One Adoption – An Overview

One Adoption is a new regional adoption service made up of local authority adoption agencies, voluntary adoption and voluntary support agencies, meaning we have years of experience but a fresh approach. This new way of delivering adoption services in Yorkshire and Humber offers improved outcomes for both children and those who want to adopt.

Working regionally helps recruit new families more effectively, enables children to be placed in a more timely way and improves adoption support services as well as allowing us to share best practice and make our services even better.

One Adoption are responsible for the adoption process:

  • Information evening;
  • Complete expression of interest form;
  • Initial visit;
  • Formal registration of interest;
  • Stage one training and assessment;
  • Stage two assessment;
  • Adoption panel;
  • Approval;
  • Matching;
  • Placement;
  • Adoption Order.

Adoption Support and Training

Adoption support offer starts at the very beginning of the adoption process and continues throughout childhood from early years to teenage and beyond. One Adoption have developed an adoption support package by working with adoptive families, children, young people and professionals to build a comprehensive range of resources, materials and training courses which will enable you to deal with the rough times and make the most of the smooth ones.
